HOME "...The beautiful pendant arrived today. I love it! I will wear it on a string of garnet beads or with a silver chain. I would certainly purchase from you again..." -A. Stephens (click here to read more) |
About the Artist
Her jewelry is handcrafted using a combination of techniques including torchwork and wirework, two ancient techniques that are enjoying renewed popularity today. Though she was always interested in art and design (she holds a degree in interior design), it was not until she made her first art glass bead in 1998 that she discovered her potential as an artist. Torchwork beads were followed a year later with wirework (which quickly became an obsession,) as a way to show off those same beads as well as a glorious panoply of hand-selected precious and semi-precious stones. Muriel delights in the zen-like quality of torchwork and wirework - "goofs" can rarely be fully corrected in these mediums - making every piece truly unique and one-of-a-kind. She enthusiastically pursues custom designs as she feels that her art and skill grow with each new design challenge. The name Pele Creations is a salute to the Hawaiian Goddess of volcanoes, who has surely been creating in stone and glass longer than any of us!
